The Labor and Industry Commission of Washington state is ending the pilot program for acupuncture and treatment of low back for injured workers and now welcoming all licensed acupuncture providers to treat workerâs compensation patients for lower back pain June 1, 2019, and beyond.
Providers that are new to treating injured workers will need to apply for a provider number to be paid for their services. If they meet eligibility criteria, L&I will assign them a provider number and they can then treat on or after June 1, 2019, based on when they have an L&I provider number.
L&I adopted the language as proposed in the CR-102 with minor clarifying changes. The CR-103, the Concise Explanatory Statement, and the final rule language can be viewed here.
Additional information related to the implementation of this rule can be found on the acupuncture medical coverage decision webpage.
AAC Insurance Information Network and Seminars is your trusted resource and the details will be added to our upcoming Pacific Northwest seminar on June 9, 2019. Be sure to not miss out to get the full details on protocols, coding and reimbursement levels
