AcuCode updates to Insurance Coverage Policies

There have been updates in the AcuCode Document Library. Updated coverage guidelines for Aetna, CIGNA, Evicore, and Health Partners for 2020.

Note these documents provide the specific diagnoses codes that are reimbursed for acupuncture related services. You should review your common code lists and verify whether the code you are using will or will not be reimbursed.

Aetna now covers neck pain, headaches, and acute or chronic lower back pain. Note the prior allowance only included migraine headaches and chronic lower back pain.

Cigna now has over 500 codes allowed for acupuncture including sprains and strains for all body regions.

Evicore added codes for mental health, cancer, menopause, irritable bowel syndrome among many more non neuromusculoskeletal conditions.

Please review all carefully to assure the best potential reimbursement for your patients.
